Lao Red Cross gives relief items to flood victims in Champassak

 (KPL) President of the Lao Red Cross Society, Dr. Snivourast Sramany, last Friday presented 385 million kip worth of relief items the Society has received from the Singaporean Red Cross to flood victims in Pathoumphone and Soukoumma districts, Champassak.

The relief items include 15 kg of rice and consumer goods for flood victims in four villages in Soukhoumma districts, including Boungkeo, Houay-Hai Neua, Thaseng Dong Houaban. Almost 300 families of over 1,000 people in these villages benefited from the assistance.

Other 328 beneficiary families of the provision of 15 kg of rice and consumer goods are in five villages of Pathoumphone districts including Parktoy, Bouay-Dao, Khonenoy, Boungkham, Tomotha.

The handover of the assistance took place at the Champassak Provincial Administration Office and was performed by President of the Lao Red Cross Society, Dr. Snivourast Sramany, and members of the victim families in the witness of local authorities.

Last year, tropical typhoons Haima and Nockten damaged over 3,000 ha of farmland, irrigation schemes, roads and other facilities in Soukhoumma and Pathoumphone.
