Over 1,600 families in Xiengkhuang to access electricity

(KPL) Over 1,600 families with 8,000 populations in 35 villages, Nonghat, Phoukood and Kham districts, Xiengkhuang province will be accessible electricity by 2014.

The expansion of electricity network system project was signed last week between Director of Phetlaiphone Group, Mr. Phet Vongkhanty, Head Office of Ministry of Energy and Mining, Mr. Chaleurn Inthavy and Deputy Head of Energy and Mining Service of Xiengkhuang province, Mr. Bounchanh Norlokheu.

The electricity expansion project is under the Party and government’s policy on socio-economic development and poverty reduction among poor people in order to lift the country out of the list of least developed country and ensure the rate of the electricity consumption to be achieved by 90 % of households nationwide by 2020.

The project will install 22 Kv transmission line with 195,284 km stretch, 0.4 Kv transmission line with 42,550 km long and 35 transformers worth over 87 billion kip, which will undertake for 36 months.
