Sikhottabong trade fair being held

(KPL) The Provincial Industry and Commerce Division of Kammouane is organizing a trade fair 2012 on the sidelines with the celebration of annual Sikhottabong Stupa Festival (locally known as Boun Phatha Sikhottabong) in Thakhek district, Kammouane province on 3-7 February.
The aim of the trade fair is to promote domestic and foreign investment in market-oriented production in the province and the growth of its small and medium business units.
“There are 474 booths participating in the event of which six booths are from other divisions in the province, 13 booths from districts, 3 booths representing the provincial Information, Culture and Tourism Divisions of Xiengkhouang, Saravane and Vientiane Capital, four booths from other provinces,” said Head of the Provincial Industry and Commerce Division of Kammouane, Mr. Singphet Keosopha.
The official said that the trade fair also saw the presence of 138 booths representing business community and 310 booths of One District One Product of Laos and One Tambon One Product of Thailand, the latter also known as OTOP.
Models of traditional houses of minority ethnic groups as well as products produced by these minority groups are also being displayed and for sale at the event.
Billions of kip are reportedly circulating in the trade fair at which industrial products, agricultural products, handicrafts, bamboo products, wood products, household utensils, furniture items are being displayed and for sale.
